When the project I worked for started, we used IBM equipment for networking. The first site was connected using 2210 routers. As the network grew, we converted to an ATM core, first using an IBM 8285 switch at the core, and then replacing it with an IBM 8265. The MSS 8210 provides a routing engine as well as setup and control of LAN emulation. The 8271 is in fact a 3com switch which has a slot in the rear for an ATM 155MB/s uplink. 8275 is an entry level switch used at remote sites. The other category has general IBM/ATM/RS6000 information.
