Ruckus 7363 Access Point

Jottings on my work with some thrown out Ruckus access points. Previously I used a Cisco Access point, but it was 2.4GHz only and didn't support WPA2, just WPA1. I had tried replacing this with a Cisco 1262 but I found the IOS cli confusing to get the right SSIDs and passwords configured as I wanted with multiple SSIDs connecting to different trunks. I'll probably have another go as I quite like the Cisco kit.

So when I was offered two Ruckus 7363s I was interested to test how they worked, never really having heard of Ruckus before. These came with firmware to work with an external controller rather than standalone, so the first job was to reflash them with the standalone firmware.

The front of the access point shows the status LEDS for power and users connected to either 2.4 or 5GHz. Opt and dir don't seem to be used for standalone use, the dir shows it is connected to a Zone director / controller.

The rear has three ethernet sockets, two are 10/100MB/s the third is 1000MB/s and also supports Power over Ethernet, so I can power it from my Cisco 3750 switch. The opt button is not used, but the recessed Hard Reset button does just that. The default ip and user is on the bottom label (192.168.0.1 and super/sp-admin).

Browser config is just through a login page, nothing exciting. Default is super and sp-admin, please change this as soon as possible.

First this to note is that the ssh interface does not seem to support passing the user as a parameter:-
