This section describes the building of the LPAR itself.
Here we will:-
Login to the HMC via a web browser. The HMC is designed for use with the Firefox browser, but IE will do.

Under Systems Management select the Servers option and then click on one of the servers (the one where the LPAR is to be built).This will bring a list of existing partitions.
Before start creating the new partition it’s a good idea to get some required settings from the VIO partitions.
Click in the first VIO server (in the case of Site 1 this will be server1_VIOS1S)to bring up its properties sheet and click on the Virtual Adapters tab. This list shows all the current connected adapters. Look in the Adapter ID column to find the next available ID number and make a note of it. Then note the number in the Connecting Adapter column (should all be the same number). Then close the property sheet, and return to the server list.
Bring up the properties of the second VIO server and do the same as you did with the first. Click on the Virtual Adapters tab,make a note of the next available Adapter ID and the number in the Connecting Adapter column.
The Adapter ID’s should be the same on both VIO servers and the Connecting Adapter on the second VIO server should be one higher than the first VIO server(e.g. ‘2’ for VIOS1S and ‘3’ for VIOS2S).
Having collected this information we can now start to create the profile.
Click on the Servers option in the left-hand pane and in the right-hand pane check the server you want to build the partition on.A tag will then appear at the end of the server name where you can choose from a pop-up menu.
Select:-
This will run the ‘Create LPAR Wizard’.
Choose the following values accordingly:-
Create Partition
Enter the name of your LPAR in Partition Name and hit Next (You can ignore partition number)
Partition Profile
Enter normal as the Profile name and hit Next
Processors
Leave as Shared and hit Next
Processing Settings
Enter required Minimum/Desired/Maximum values for processing units
Enter required Minimum/Desired/Maximum values for Virtual processors
Tick the Uncapped Weight checkbox and set the value to 128.0 (254 for production)
and Hit Next
Memory
Enter required Minimum/Desired/Maximum values for memory and Hit Next
I/O
Leave as is and just choose Next
Virtual Adapters
Under Actions
choose Create SCSI Adapter and a new window will open.
Check that Virtual SCSI adapter Adapter is set to the Connecting Adapter(the value you got from the VIO server).
Under Server partition
select the VIO server associated with it then enter the Server Adapter ID (which should is the next available Adapter ID you noted earlier)
then hit OK
Then create a second SCSI adapter for the second VIO server, choosing the required VIO server and Server Adapter ID (as above).
Under Actions
choose Create Ethernet Adapter and a new window will open.
Set the VLAN ID to 13 (the Backup/Admin VLAN) and hit OK
Hit Next
Optional Settings
Check Enable connection monitoring and Enable redundant error path reporting
Make sure Boot mode is set to Normal
Hit Next
Profile Summary Make sure you’re happy with the settings and then choose Finish to create the partition.
