More accurately, OpenReach Fibre internet.

This is wrong I realise now, the OpenReach Fibre provision uses Time division Multiplex as well as Wavelength Division Multiplex to pass the up and downstream signals.

The TDM part is used to pass data to multiple subscribers on their own timeslot, but WDM is used to separate the up and downstream traffic. This is part of the Gigabit Passive Optical Network  (GPON)
