The AIX V6 upgrade causes a few issues which need to be resolved, these are listed below. Before you start the upgrade, make a copy of /etc/inetd.conf, /etc/sendmail.cf and make a note of the maxuproc setting (lsattr -El sys0) so you can compare afterwards and reapply the changes.. 1) /etc/inetd.conf seems to lose the ftp stanza (and hence proftp) - take a dated copy before you upgrade - diff after to confirm there was a change - put file back as appropriate and do a 'refresh -s inetd' to restart it.. 2) Work Load Manager (WLM) becomes disabled - Not all CST systems use this - most do though Post upgrade - smitty wlm Start/Stop/Update WLM Show WLM Status If there are SID specific classes then PF3 Start Workload Manager - and set values in panel as below - Hit enter once completed Configuration, or for a set: set name/currently current + applicable configuration Management mode Passive + Enforce Resource Set bindings Yes + Disable class total limits on resource usage No + Disable process total limits on resource usage No + Start now, at next boot, or both ? Both This also updates /etc/inittab so should start in future else PF0 to exit - nothing to restart 3) NFS mounts seem to become stale, so need to umount/remount them. 4) PLM may stop working properly, DLPARing some CPU seems to force PLM to start working again. 5) Mails not being sent. Seems AIX6.1 delivered a new version 10 format sendmail.cf file which was a nice vanilla one without a smart relay Or domain stanza in (DS/DM stanzas). Set these according to restored from TSM V9 sendmail.cf file. 6) maxuproc system environment reset to 128 which meant when we have 128 user processes no more allowed. Fixed at approx 09:00 and set to 8192. This is a strange anomoly and has only occured once before out of 55 AIX61 upgrades. This is now on the list of gotcha's for us to check for post upgrade.
