 The base unit has the console serial port for setup, an AUI port which is shared with RJ45 E1, and another AUI labelled "SPAN". Not sure what this does yet.
 10MB/s ethernet ports are accessible on the front panel, there is an additional one which is hard wired through the backplane to the Flex Slot.

 The switches I have are fitted with a router module, this is functionally the same as a 2500 router with two 60 pin sockets for the WAN, and an AUX serial connector. It also has an ISDN BRI socket.

 Internally the ethernet0 interface is connected to the base unit backplane. The router serial console interface is accessed from the base unit console port with a command.

+One issue is the DCE / DTE crossover on the WAN serial lines. Cisco did do some 60 pin to X21 DCE as well as DTE cables, so they could be connected together, but I have some [[telecoms:pdh-sdh#nokia_dnt2_data_network_terminal_2|Nokia DNT2]] G703 to SDSL units and BT branded X21 to G703 NTE units I really should have a play with. ([[telecoms:bt-nte8a|BT nte8a]] )
+I think the G703 BNC ports can just be crossed over Rx to Tx, maybe with one set to the clock master. The Nokia DNT2 may be more fun as they connect back to the exchange with SDSL on two pairs, not sure if I can just cross Rx to Tx and expect them to work.
