Overview
Compaq announces the 64-bit/66-MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter, a host adapter based on the Fibre Channel protocol that provides the interface for a Compaq server to interact with a Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop. It is a key component for building a Fibre Channel storage solution with the RAID Array 4100.
 
Functionality
Compaq's 64-bit/66-MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter enhances the functionality of the RAID Array 4000 family of products by lowering the CPU host utilization from currently shipping Compaq Fibre host adapters. The Compaq 64-bit/66-MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter also provides better Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop stability with more host server isolation than Compaq's existing Fibre Channel Host Adapter. This new adapter supports single server applications and clustering under MicrosoftÒ WindowsÒ NTÒ and NetWareÒ and is fully compatible with Compaq's full line of Fibre Channel products. The 64-bit/66-MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter has been qualified for use with the Compaq RAID Array 4000 family of products, the Enterprise Backup Solution, and the RAID Array 8000 under NetWare. Compaq's 64-bit/66-MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter has been thoroughly tested and integrated into the full line of Compaq ProLiant ™ servers.
